[WIP] Daedric Bow from SKYRIMby *Dj3r0m

And my new weapon from SKYRIM will be ... the daedric bow, which is the ultimate weapon for the character I'm playing : a wood elf ranger. This one is not commissionned, it's for me ^^
I'm VERY pleased with the result so far, and can't wait to do the painting job. I'll try something new : black primer + dry brushing with silver and metalic acrylics ...

It's a kind of wood called MDF (medium density fiberboard) ^^

oh, I know MDF. Isn't it a bit heavy? I know it tends to get rather heavy.

No it's quite light. I think my bow weights between 2kg and 3kg ...

Hm, not sure if to consider it light or heavy... If I think about it it seems light, but I'm not sure I could hold it up straight for long. But then, I am going to make next year a bow and I will cast it in resin (it will be hollow on the inside), and I my math also told me it will be around 2 kg, so I guess that counts as light :P .
Good job, anyway! You props look really nice!

About the bow : it's easy to hold it up for the time of a 1 photo ... but if it's at a convention in a group of cosplayers, and many people come to take photos, then it would be impossible to hold it up for too long ... but it's easy to hold it down for a long time ^^
Yes resin is a lot heavier than MDF ... and A LOT more expensive : I only wish I could find a place to buy molding / casting products at large quantity and cheap price ...

Well, the silicone is a bit more expensive, I pay around 20 euros per kg and if you make it thicker and brush it on the mold you don't use that much. As for the resin, I buy it with 10 euros per kg, but if I buy 10 kg then it cost only 7-8 euros per kg. You should look for industrial providers. Hobby shops usually have higher prices.

If I make the bow hollow then it won't be so heavy (I need to wire it up on the inside, anyway). ANd I really need resin, because I want to make it transparent (it's Ashe's bow from The League of Legends).

I wish I had those prices, at my furnitures shop it's about 7X more expensive for silicone and for resin ... Got to look somewhere else ...
